"I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the people" Psalm 57:9

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, win glorious triumphs even though checkered with failure than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat"
- Theodore Roosevelt

Apathy, how and when did it work into our culture? Over and over again I saw it in the lives of my classmates, friends and even myself. It is as if we would rather settle on mediocre than risk something. Recently I have become abruptly aware of how apathy seems to be seeping its way into our belief as Christ followers. In reading the book of Acts you come across statements like “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved” and “the believers were of one heart and mind”. The period in which Acts was written was a time of growth, healings and the Spirit moving in mighty ways. Yet, if you read just a few words further you come across statements of opposition, riots, being stoned and other forms of persecution. Are we willing to take the difficult with the good? Or, in our society that tells us to look out for our own imitate “good” will we demand safety, comfort and convenience?

My city has over 200 churches and 90 ministries. Yet, there are still homeless.

People who have expressed a call to share the Gospel are instead staying put because they do not “want” or “feel” like going. My question is, why would we not want to know that we have personally been redeemed, knowing that there are people who have never heard the name of Christ and that there is a need. As the apostle Paul puts it -
“ remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” - Eph. 2:12,13

And

“I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power. Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.” - Eph. 3:7.8

It is by grace we have been saved. It is by grace that we get to preach the Gospel.
Besides, I have also found in life that often times my feelings contradict reality.

Alright, back to the book of Acts. We want the blessings and growth the church saw in those days but more often than not we are content to stay in our half-ass Christian bubble.

Why do we settle on living in the “grey twilight”?

If we are redeemed by Christ and truly following Him, can we live in this twilight while being consistent with our beliefs and what we know to be true of our God?

Here are some passages that lead me to believe that we cannot.
Mat 8:28,29
2 Tim. 1:8-12
Philippians 3:10
Just to start. There are countless more.

Why do I so often buy into the lies of this world? Settling on feeling defeated instead of living in the freedom and victory of Christ. If we have truly experienced the love of Christ why do we not boldly proclaim it from Judea to the ends of the earth as the Apostles have done before?

If we are not proclaiming to the ends of the earth by reaching the widows, the homeless, the homosexuals, the outcasts, the porn stars, professors, students, third world countries, brothels, war torn nations, and the rest of the world that makes us uncomfortable and nervous, we are not being consistent to our worldview. If we are not going, we are not following in the steps of the saints who have gone before us. But above all, if we are not we are not obeying out Creator, Savior, and Lord.

We are not
